wIm hrmns (Neerpelt, °1981) founded creative universe byWM in 2015. As a visual artist, he explores the interaction between colour and moving image, placing emphasis on the tactile. Video mixers are his instruments. Their analogue limitations fuel an experimental, intuitive process, translating the rhythm and colour of video into compositions that are both tactile and naïvely still.

What fascinates wIm is what happens when you slow it all down. Video plays at 25 frames per second or more. Each frame is gone before it registers. But when you pause and look frame by frame, details and shapes emerge that were always there, invisible in motion. That moment of stillness inside the rush is where his work lives.

Every work is unique and will never be reproduced. Each stands alone, yet remains intrinsically connected to the video and to every other piece. Owning a print means sharing a lasting bond with the complete work and its other owners a subtle network of shared time, image and involvement.
